We're on a mission to accelerate EV adoption by improving the driver's experience at public charging stations.
"Charging anxiety" — the fear that unreliable charging infrastructure may not support long-distance or daily driving needs — is the #1 hurdle to mainstream EV adoption. Despite charging infrastructure being installed rapidly, approximately 25% of public charging attempts fail.
Many of these issues are preventable driver education challenges and user experience issues. EV drivers are frustrated and some are reverting back to gas or hybrid vehicles.
Meeting our climate goals requires electrifying transportation, and that means easing charging anxiety and leaving no driver behind.
Our vision
A world where
getting around is cheaper, easier, and more fun
our homes, cities, and vehicles are powered by nature
gas pumps are like rotary phones
the smell of gasoline is like the smell of cigarettes
city air is cleaner, asthma rates plummet
it seems silly we used to propel ourselves by means of small explosions
everyone can easily own (or borrow) and charge an EV
charging your car is something you barely think about
charging networks and EV makers are thriving businesses
we're ahead of our climate goals
ChargeMate did its small part to get us there
Team
Meet the team
Bradford Crist
Founder & CEO
Brad has over a decade of experience in the clean tech industry including EV charging, connected cars, and vehicle financing. At Volta Charging, he led product development of the driver app scaling up monthly active users by introducing new features to discover free stations, pay for DC fast charging, and report issues in the field.
Brad led engineering teams to build Level 2 and DC fast charging software & hardware components that scaled the Volta network from 500 to over 3,000 public stations worldwide. Brad holds several AI/ML patents, including computer vision models.
Brad studied energy & environmental policy at Georgetown and has made it his career goal to help electrify the grid & transportation system.
